Catalina Ponor was totally robbed on beam and on floor during event finals. She had the better score than Aly and deserved to win the bronze. If two gymnnasts can’t win the same medal, what’s the point of giving them the same score? Clearly, someone in the US delegation was too upset about McKayla not winning vault so when the opportunity came, they did what they could to place Aly on the podium.
I feel the same about floor finals. Catalina had a fantastic routine, good tumbling AND good choreography, compared to Aly who had pretty good tumbling but can’t feel the music to save her life/ the choreo is horrendous. It made me happy that the public was upset with Catalina’s score as such displays of outrage are not frequent in gymnastics. Catalina was robbed and that’s the end of it. She deserved the bronze on beam (why are you a judge if you can’t see from the beginning that Aly’s execution was poor? why do you have so much technology and somehow still don’t see when gymnasts’ scores don’t reflect their performance?) - she got the higher mark from the beginning. I’m tired of all these power games that happen during the Olympics.
